What the F***!

I .. I .. I .. don't know what to say. It's just awesome. I'm still in amazement, ... awestruck. It's Star Wars on film/TV/screen ... whatever. What I can say is Star Wars did not die with EP3, it's just the beginning.

What am I blabbering about? A few entries down, I talked about a purported fan-made drawings from the website Tales of the New Republic. The site now includes a movie clip that is out of this world in cartoon making series. Head over there NOW before LucasFilm start to take it down.

Here's more pics from the clip. It's a drool fest.

Another Star Wars cartoon?

I can't believe it. But the evidence is in front of me. Pictures of a Star Wars based cartoon? is popping up on this website Tales of the New Republic. And they are just eye-popping good, nay great.

The site itself doesn't lend greatly to LucasFilms high quality web design. My best guess is that this guy, somehow, got his hands on a few cells of the new cartoon series and published it on this website.

Here's hoping that all of this is true and not just some fan drawn enthusiast.

Parody Time!

I saw a trailer of Robot Chicken Wars recently. A parody based on the Star Wars movie trilogy using toy figures. It's just too funny not to show it here.

An update of the fan boy Star Wars movie aptly called Fanboys. It has been pushed back to a 2008 release.

In Fanboys, director Kyle Newman has fashioned an uproarious comedy that follows a group of young friends on a cross-country quest to break into Skywalker Ranch and see Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace before it is released.

“Fanboys has truly been a labor of love for everyone involved, so to know that some of the world’s biggest Star Wars fans will be among the first to see highlights from the movie is very exciting.”

More Star Wars TV

News are leaking out that Lucas is planning 2 new live series TV movies or TV specials based on Star Wars. And as always, cryptic as ever, he exclaimed that he doesn't know of the direction these shows will take but one thing for sure, they are not on about the Skywalkers.

See, when you have already the technology developed, it becomes easy to make more movies ... you just need good stories to flesh them out.

Son of Suns ... or was it?

I was intrigue with the end of ROTJ (special edition) when the revelers were shouting Son of Suns. I was pinpointing the fact that the revelers would not be shouting for Vader (since he's still the bad guy in everybody's eyes), which probably meant that everyone was celebrating Luke's triumph in overthrowing (physically and literally) the Emperor.

Recently, the official provided a podcast that has lots of content in which one of it was about the chanting at the end of ROTJ. I clipped only the relevant material. Just listen.

Hmmm ... Son of Suns or Chano Chan or Sano Sa ...

Star Wars 3D cartoons

The official site has come out with an image about the coming Clone Wars cartoon in 2008. Just look at it. It's just jaw-dropping!!

Look at those glassy eyes on Yoda. The computer graphics looks awesome. This is going to be one great cartoon series. I can't wait.

A movie for fan boys

I've just discovered a new movie to be rolled out this year. It's aptly called Fan Boys. IMDB reports that it is being in production and due out later this year.

Well, since the trailer is out. I would say this movie would be awesome. Just watch.

Star Wars 3D cartoon

Several sites have reported on the latest update of the upcoming SW cartoons.

The interesting bits were that they have 2 almost complete episodes. They have another 15 episodes in process presently. And they are touting their 3D effects to be the best there is anywhere. ... wow!

I can't wait!

Adult-themed SW

Got this from the Great Flanneled one's interview during America's Rose Parade.

“Ours will be very different,” he said. “It’s very Star Wars, but it doesn’t involve the Skywalkers.” The characters come from the same universe, Lucas added, but the stories are, “a little bit more adult.” Hopefully, he added, “it will be something most people have never seen on television before.”

More adult? ... gasp! Will all the ladies be in Leia's slave girl 2-piece? Woohooo!!

TV risque? SW risque? Lucas dabbling with risque material? Think all the nasty thoughts you want. I'll still be waiting for the TV series.

Shadows 2?

Shadows of the Empire was a SW multimedia spectacle.

As the official site put it;
It was the first time fans and collectors were able to purchase a Star Wars novelization, action figures, vehicles, card sets, a video game, comic books, roleplaying game supplements, and even a soundtrack -- all based on a story without a movie.

Well, Jedinet blog has an interesting angle to this sudden writeup by the official site and another blog writeup of this cross media story telling.

Hmmm ... by not going into much of both articles, I would really love another SOTE type of event. Notable characters that were fleshed out from the storyline were Prince Xizor and Dash Rendar.

Lucasfilm? LucasTV!

Looks like the Great Flanneled One has set a new direction for Lucasfilm. A direction towards the google box, tv that is.
"We don't want to make movies. We're about to get into television. As far as Lucasfilm is concerned, we've moved away from the feature film thing because it's too expensive and it's too risky."

Man, this is very ominous for any last hope for more Star Wars movie. Yes, yes I know Mr George Lucas said he will not make EP 7,8,9. But we, fans, can only hope that someone else would do ANYTHING about Star Wars with ANYONE of the sub-characters.

Lucas also says;
"I think the secret to the future is quantity."

Well, the SW forum members talks about QUANTITY to be inversely proportional to QUALITY. This may not be true in this case. We are talking about LUCASFILM / GEORGE LUCAS here. He is synonymous to quality products. And they already have the "software" from 6 movies.

I would say, they will make it simpler to produce great SW tv series. And it would surpass the visual effects of Star Treks, Battlestar Galacticas or even the one the stars Kevin Sorbo, the sci-fi series elludes me now.

PS : Andromeda, that's the one.

Wrong LDs, my bad!

Whopppss! sorry guys, I think I made a boo-boo in my last entry. I mentioned that the new DVDs coming out were going to be made from versions of the LDs which I have already bought. I retract that.

Apparently my LDs were the Special Edition versions ie they were the restored movies with the additional scenes. The actual versions that these new DVDs would copy would come from these LDs. My bad.

Either way, I would still NOT be buying them.

Original theatrical release DVDs

Lucas finally caves in to fanboys demands. Or is it? Maybe it is another way to milk money from (dedicated/crazy) fans who wish to get every version of the Star Wars saga on their trophy shelves?

According to this editorial from Tbone and another write-up by DigitalBits, it is a direct port from the laserdiscs version. I bought these more than a decade ago, in my spasmic Star Wars urges (hahahaha). My wallet was $150 thinner after the purchase.

PS : Even more bad news about this DVD set from Rebelscum news.

So will I buy these dvds when they come out in September? Nahhh, ... although I fell in love watching the original Star Wars, but I kind of liked the new polished and added version which I already have now. Lucas will not be getting my money on this set.

Watched ROTJ ... again

I watched Return of the Jedi, again last weekend. So that would be the nth + 1 time, I've watched that episode. Nope, I didn't take the box out. My son was in his Star Wars moods and wanted to watched the battle of Endor, again.

After having watched it a few times and the whole 6-story saga, I still wonder on a few things that just doesn't add up.

I'm still puzzled when Vader and Luke were duelling fiercely, their sabers did not cut some of the railings or stuff around them?

Like why did Hayden (Anakin before turning dak side) appeared at the last ghost reunion scene? The rest (Yoda and Obi Wan) learnt the "ghost trick" from Qui Gon's spirit prior to the end of ROTS (ep 3), so when did Anakin learnt to do this?
Or when Lucas added in the chanting "Son of Suns" in the special edition, ok it was in reference to Luke living on Tattoine which has twin suns but still why/how would people in Coruscant or the other places knew him and his background that well? He was with the rebellion anyhow. Why the big adulation?
