Legacy of the Force

Called my bookstore to give him a heads up on the new book Betrayal. I've read smiggens of reviews from the net. Can't help myself, and from the morsels of info that I've read, someone's turning bad, real bad ... Sith kind of bad. Rehashed? New bad guy? Second coming of the Sith?

The official website gives this as a short description. "...Evil is rising again -- out of the best intentions -- and it looks as if the legacy of the Skywalkers may come full circle."

Here's the cover of second book in the LOTF series. His name is Fett, Boba Fett. New bad guy? I have no idea. Judging from the synopsis below, New good guy? From what I know, the writer loves writing about the Mandalorian, Fett's race. I hope there's less of the Mando'a culture now.

The description of the book is given as such " ...Luke and Mara are unable to protect their son Ben from war. The quest of an assassin draws out a dreaded name from the past: Boba Fett. And in the new galactic order, friends and enemies are no longer what they seem..."

The third bookcover just came out yesterday. That looks like Mara Jade, Luke's wife. But the lightsaber looks menacing, almost Vong like with the claw and all. So I'm guessing, it could be Lumiya herself.

Here is the given synopsis. "...For elsewhere in the galaxy, a once-forgotten menace, Lumiya -- Dark Lady of the Sith -- is tipping the balance of the Force once more towards the darkness..." Still not clearer now, hahahah.

Review : Honor and Duty

There were 2 stories in this paperback. Both connected by one Sagoro Autem.

Hated the drawing/colouring of the first storyboard. 80% of the time the background is blank and coloured blandly. The second was better.

Story wise, this collection is weak. I mean, it doesn't add to the folklore that of the Star Wars universe. It shows the ruthless nature of Vader, but don't we know of that already when he killed the younglings in ROTS.

So what secret the tpb holds? I have no clue at all. Is it about the Financial Reform Act? Well, I knew that Palpatine do siphon off money from this act to finance his humungous projects for example the Death Star. So it can't be that.

How about the introduction of Jan Dodonna? Well, I knew of him coming out from the ranks in the Imperial fleet. So that's it.

So I'm still wondering what "This story reveals the ending to a story Star Wars fans have been waiting for years to resolve!" could be?

Overall, a not so good comic tpb.

Wrong LDs, my bad!

Whopppss! sorry guys, I think I made a boo-boo in my last entry. I mentioned that the new DVDs coming out were going to be made from versions of the LDs which I have already bought. I retract that.

Apparently my LDs were the Special Edition versions ie they were the restored movies with the additional scenes. The actual versions that these new DVDs would copy would come from these LDs. My bad.

Either way, I would still NOT be buying them.

Original theatrical release DVDs

Lucas finally caves in to fanboys demands. Or is it? Maybe it is another way to milk money from (dedicated/crazy) fans who wish to get every version of the Star Wars saga on their trophy shelves?

According to this editorial from Tbone and another write-up by DigitalBits, it is a direct port from the laserdiscs version. I bought these more than a decade ago, in my spasmic Star Wars urges (hahahaha). My wallet was $150 thinner after the purchase.

PS : Even more bad news about this DVD set from Rebelscum news.

So will I buy these dvds when they come out in September? Nahhh, ... although I fell in love watching the original Star Wars, but I kind of liked the new polished and added version which I already have now. Lucas will not be getting my money on this set.

Honor and Duty

Just bought this comic tpb today. It's still in its shrink wrap. I'm saving this to be read over the weekend. Briefly, the storyline spans from the clone wars to Vader's first mission, which should be the novel "Dark Lord:The Rise of Darth Vader".

What's more intriguing is that DH (Darkhorse - comic publisher) has written this on their website.

"This story reveals the ending to a story Star Wars fans have been waiting for years to resolve! "

Hmmmm ... I wonder what it could be?

Shipment came through ...

After playing tennis email with Vpost, my Walmart Exclusive Gift Pack #2 2005 has finally arrived. And to all who are thinking of doing the same, don't. The delivery charges was way, way, ... wayyyyy too much. It's all about the VOLUMETRIC weight as I have learned a 'wallet thinning' lesson.

It was not Vpost fault actually, but Walmart's incorrigible act of putting a small sized item into an overly oversized delivery box. Oh well at least I've tried the service, not going to try it anymore.

But what the hey! I've got my Boba Fett Slave1, a Tie Bomber (metallic) and a blue ARC-170 fighter. I'm happy like bird.

Watched ROTJ ... again

I watched Return of the Jedi, again last weekend. So that would be the nth + 1 time, I've watched that episode. Nope, I didn't take the box out. My son was in his Star Wars moods and wanted to watched the battle of Endor, again.

After having watched it a few times and the whole 6-story saga, I still wonder on a few things that just doesn't add up.

I'm still puzzled when Vader and Luke were duelling fiercely, their sabers did not cut some of the railings or stuff around them?

Like why did Hayden (Anakin before turning dak side) appeared at the last ghost reunion scene? The rest (Yoda and Obi Wan) learnt the "ghost trick" from Qui Gon's spirit prior to the end of ROTS (ep 3), so when did Anakin learnt to do this?
Or when Lucas added in the chanting "Son of Suns" in the special edition, ok it was in reference to Luke living on Tattoine which has twin suns but still why/how would people in Coruscant or the other places knew him and his background that well? He was with the rebellion anyhow. Why the big adulation?

New Ultras in the horizon

I was surfing the net and found these pictures of 2 new Ultras to come out in June. The Falcon is now more detailed than ever. The At-At looks weird with the snowspeeder doing a fly by hook sequence. But whatever it is, I'll be getting them when they make their way to our retail stores in June.
