UGH or WGC

Well, 2 weeks has passed and wave 5 has still not pop up yet since its flashy unveiling at ToysRUs United Square (TRU US) & the Metro Sengkang (MSK ). Been to many places many times but nothing, zilch, nada. The UGH (Ultimate Galactic Hunt) now looks like more of a WGC (Wild Goose Chase). But I'm still patient. They will be in my grasp sooner or later.

In the Star Wars Galaxy, I played a bit of Battlefront 2. Its the Star Wars xbox version. Bought the game eons ago for my kid. Loves playing it. Seen him playing, and he's good for his age.

I play too, in fact I finished Battlefront 1 but haven't really gone into the new game. First few levels was a doozy, better than the part 1. But the additional space battle in spaceships I stunk real bad. Maybe I should just stick with playing ground missions.

Ultra snowspeeder docking home

"The circle is now complete" as Vader exclaimed to Obi-Wan before killing him. Yup, finally got the snowspeeder. I was quite contented after grabbing the 3 ultras last week. The only adrenaline high I have now is for hunting the wave 5. If I did find the snowspeeder whilst looking for the new wave, that would be an incentive.

Found the snowspeeder at OG Albert eventually, where it all began.

So, inclusive of the first 2 ultras (xwing and gunship), I have all the ultras produced in this galaxy. Makes the heart go warm and fuzzy.

Review : Republic Commando Triple Zero

I didn't like it, honest. The story has little of their mission but big on their Mandalorian culture. Great if you want to know more about these guys but a tedious read if there's too much of it. And there's a lot of it, believe me.

The introduction of Mando'a language was good but too heavy. I read Star Wars to be entertained not to be educated in a 2nd language. I expected more action from the previous book but what a let down.

Since there was black ops involved, I expected it to be like ... errr ... the Wraith Squadron (a spin off from the Rogue squadron novels by Aaron Allston). Now that was a good mission-based storyline and funny too.
This book to me its not about null ARCs but about Kal Skirata, the man who made them his sons. A disappointing read to say the least.

Hunting expedition

Brought along my 9yr old boy for a hunting of titanium today. Sort of like a bonding trip of father and son if you want to say. We went to JP to check out the TRU there. Got there before they opened. During the wait, I "briefed" my kid on the "mission" at hand, where the Star Wars section will be and how to get there. He was more excited than I am, I kid you not.

Opening time.
He ran in and started calling me, saying that he has found the area. I congratulated him and started my search. Alas, there was none that I needed. My kid looks disappointed. So I gave him another life lesson ... hehehehe. Told him there will always be failure in life, its how you get up and react to it, that’s what’s important ... little did he know, I was cursing my head off but quietly in my heart ... hahaha.

ULTRAs in the bag

Got off work and toyed with the idea of a look-see at OG Albert. You know, who knows when the wave 5 would come in.

The usual pegwarmers were still there albeit lesser. So did the usual walk-around to get acquainted with salesgirls when I saw SLAVE 1 Ultras strewn in a mess on the floor. Thought I was dreaming but wtf, there were ultras on my feet.
Going into hunter mode, I walked briskly and found 2 opened boxes of more ultras. The force was with me today. I thanked God for that.

Turned the boxes upside down and inside out, and got my myself the ARC-170, Tri-fighter and Slave1. But there was still one missing, the Snowspeeder. Called one of the salegirls and was told there weren't anymore boxes. Oh well, grabbed my loot and scrammed out of there.

ARC-170 in the bag

Got my hands on the ARC-170 finally.A beauty, isn't it. Traded my spare trifighter with a fellow collector. Now to scrounge around for the other "lost" vehicles.

Triple Zero in the bag

Make friends with the owner of a bookstore, and you'll become their best customers.

Got a call from the bookstore last Mon. Triple Zero just came in. Got a copy and now reading about Omega Squad. After 4 chapters, a new breed of ARC troopers is introduced, the NULL ARCs. They are troopers that have characters that deviate from set requirements, meaning they are more like their template Jango Fett.

OG Albert pillaged

I was doing nothing much during lunch, so I decided to go to OG Albert for a look-see. Who knows maybe they started bringing in the 6" diecast. You can never know.

Nope, still no ultras, but only surprise, surprise, new stock of titaniums. And what luck, they were still in boxes. I was in cloud nine, man ... pick of the crop. But I was brought down to earth like a tonne of bricks. Someone has pillaged all the clone war gunship. All 9 pieces, assuming there's 1 in each of the 9 boxes that I saw and rummaged through.

I suspect it was the scalpers. Curse those greedy buggers whoever they may be.

Review : Empire 5 Allies and Adversaries

3 stories in this paperback.

The bravery of being out of range
First story is about taking sides in the galactic civil war. Sitting on the fence is never an option. What I can say is the drawing & colouring was excellent. Story wise was good because of the twist at the end of the story. Point to note, I've never seen better tantalising depiction of the female form in the star wars comics universe before this tale. Is this an adult comic or for the younger generation?

Idiot's array
This story is about a side trip by Han and Chewie. Tired of being cooped up with the rebels whilst trying to find a homebase, Han "volunteered" for a supply run. He met with old "friends" and foes and managed to flee with his life, again. I didn't like the story because it adds nothing. Chewie was sometimes drawn badly. The only saving grace was the appearance of Darth Vader at the end.

"General" Skywalker
I liked this story because it introduces a clone trooper to the rebellion era. First time this happening, I think. Whilst on a eavesdropping mission on a desolate planet, the recce group was ambushed by a detachment of Imperial stormtroopers. Helped by an old clone trooper, they managed to flee. But a continuity question arises, aren't clonetrooper's life expectancy limited.

Overall, 2/3 makes this tpb a good read.

Empire 5 in the bag

I was walking around Kinokuniya after prayers and got myself Empire vol 5. The front cover has Luke with blazing guns. The back cover has a picture of Chewie which was to me, quite badly drawn.

I'll be finishing this before the weekend ends.
