Strike another SW book

Another book off my reading list or at least temporarily will be the Darth Bane book. After reading initial reviews from a few sources, my fascination and excitement on this Sith book, kind of waned.

Another previous storyline that was based from a timeline way, way, wayyy before Ep1 and based on the Galaxies video game, Ruins of Dantooine doesn't really appealed to me too. And I was right on that one, cause reviews of the book was very unfavourable.

For the Bane novel, the other "off" factor was that this one-off book comes in hardcover! So I've decided that I will only buy this book when it comes out in paperback, and if that means waiting for 8 months for it ... then I shall wait for it.

A New Hope

Word just came back from Hasbro that the Ultras are not dead yet. Just dormant in mass retail. Here's the news from Hasbro's weekly Q&A sessions.

TheJawa.com: It's unfortunate to hear about the fate of the Titanium Ultra line. Is Hasbro actively looking at other ways of presenting vehicles to collectors that may be impractical to produce in the 3-3/4" scale? Come on, don't you guys remember the Collector's Fleet line?

Hasbro: Fear not about the last few of the Titanium Ultra vehicles…. they will be made available to fans after all, just not at mass retail. Look for details on that soon. As for your other question, we are always looking at new opportunities to keep the Star Wars vehicle program going strong. For now, the focus is on the Titanium 3" assortment, which has a long, bright future as long as fans continue to be an engaged in the format as they have been.

Oh joy!! , oh joy!!

Star Wars Books

Whilst doing my recce around Bugis, Kino has the Complete Visual Dictionary hot off the press.

I would love to buy this book, but alas it's selling for $78 bucks. I would have to think twice, thrice maybe 12 times to part nearly $80 of my hard earned money for this luxury.

Hopefully there's some sale somewhere in the future ... maybe just maybe I'll buy it ... but for now it's just a want.

Silver Wing Squadron

I was doing a bit of re-arranging of my Titaniums with the new additions which I have recently bought. You don't know how it feels, playing with these Star Wars toys. In the words of the immortal Ah Beng ... "Shiok man!"

I managed to create my silver wing squadron with the addition of Padme's Royal Starship. This complements the gold wing squadron which I completed sometime ago. Here's how they look in formation.

Sidetracked again ...

I was doing a recce recently, you know just to try my luck in finding the Ultra AT-AT at non-TRU retail shop when I chance upon mini titanium transformers. There's been a lot of hoo-haa in the forum about titanium figures (new wave I should say) hitting the retail market. No, no, ... I don't collect them. Just like to look at them. But, I've yet to see Optimus or Jetfire for that instance. Well, on pics their look scrumptous so I really wanted to see them in the box.

Back to the minis, I finally found the elusive Optimus Prime mini behind a stack of pegwarmers. Woo hooo! Of all the times I went to OGs, this Optimus is nowhere to be found.

This is the first version of Optimus. It's the war within version.

Now I've got all that I need of the mini titanium series of transformers. It's time to get a display case for them. All in all, I only bought 6 out of the 20 odd figures. The 6 good looking ones I would say.

Et tu AT-AT ...

A week has past. A lot of toy stores have been visited. But still the Ultra AT-AT has not turned up anywhere else. Bugger!

Well, at least the birdshop will be bringing more loose titaniums in the coming week. Hope that will placate my hunger for the AT-AT ... hahahaha.

It's from a website called TNI - Toy News International . Some of the other strips are quite funny too. Go on hop on over and you'll see what I mean.

At-At ... Disappearing Act

1 day after some forummers announced the sighting of the Ultra At-At at the new TRU at Vivocity, ... and it's all gone. There was only a handful of the Falcons and the dud Slave1s.

Looks like the At-At is a sought item, and I'm just unlucky to miss it. Oh well, here's hoping that the other TRUs will start putting them up.

Come on TRU, don't fail me now.

Lucasfilm? LucasTV!

Looks like the Great Flanneled One has set a new direction for Lucasfilm. A direction towards the google box, tv that is.
"We don't want to make movies. We're about to get into television. As far as Lucasfilm is concerned, we've moved away from the feature film thing because it's too expensive and it's too risky."

Man, this is very ominous for any last hope for more Star Wars movie. Yes, yes I know Mr George Lucas said he will not make EP 7,8,9. But we, fans, can only hope that someone else would do ANYTHING about Star Wars with ANYONE of the sub-characters.

Lucas also says;
"I think the secret to the future is quantity."

Well, the SW forum members talks about QUANTITY to be inversely proportional to QUALITY. This may not be true in this case. We are talking about LUCASFILM / GEORGE LUCAS here. He is synonymous to quality products. And they already have the "software" from 6 movies.

I would say, they will make it simpler to produce great SW tv series. And it would surpass the visual effects of Star Treks, Battlestar Galacticas or even the one the stars Kevin Sorbo, the sci-fi series elludes me now.

PS : Andromeda, that's the one.

Two more titaniums

I've got myself the deranged goose and the nablue. In Hasbro-speak, its the clone war arc170 and the repaint of the Naboo fighter in BLUE!

With the acquisition of these 2, my display arrangement for these fighters became a much simpler task. I just marry up the same coloured/paint scheme vehicles to each other.

Name Your Sith!

The official site has just announced a contest to name the new sith lord that Jacen Solo is becoming. Does that even sound right? ... hahaha.

The winner of the selected name will have his/her name immortalized into the annals of Star Wars history. His/her name will be recognized in the acknowledgement page of the 5th book of the Legacy series. How cool is that?

Better start bouncing off a few names from now ... hmmm .. Darth Star (as in Death Star) - scratched that. How about Darth Soul (as in Solo ... get it?). Darth Venger .. this is harder than I thought.

Titanium Collection (part3)

The last tier showcase the old trilogy vehicles. Jango's and Boba's different coloured Slave 1s. For all the photos taken, there are still 1 display case at each side of the cabinet, but when I took those photos, they didn't come out well.

All in all, I still have several unopened bubble boxes and I haven't decided which configuration of display to put them in, OT or NT era, in movie sequence .... Well, maybe when I have the time between juggling family and work, I might do a big re-arrangement fiesta. Can't wait for that time to come... hahahaha.

Titanium Collection (part2)

The second level highlights the bad guys of the saga. Yes, I know the ultra arc170 is a good guy but since I have not yet opened my Darth Vader Tie Advance ... this scheme will stay like this until further notice.

Set your eyes on the cream coloured droid fighter. This came from the old galoob die cast series. I've modified it to stand like it did in Ep1.

Titanium Collection (part1)

I'm finally ready to "show off" my collection of Star Wars vehicles. The quality of the photos are a lot to be desired but what can you do to an amateur of a photographer that is me.

The first level/tier comprised the first 2 ultras to be released (an xwing and the gunship). This level I'm showcasing the different repaints of vehicles in the market. Some colour scheme works well, whilst others are/were never bought ... by me of course.
