Only Transformers ... Noooooo!!

Just came back from a quick trip to KL. An utterly disappointed trip that to all the places I shopped like Metrojaya, Jusco and ToysRus, I couldn't find any SW titaniums I was searching for ... aaaargh!!! And to add to that, I did also go a few specialty toy shops that I searched for in the Net and I got zippp too ... Frustration to power of 10.

You know what's out there in KL now. Loads of Transformers 6" Titanium series. If the people in the forum that I regularly participate, saw the mountains of different types of Transformers that they have been helplessly searching down here in Singapore ... they would have gone ballistic. And its in Malaysian Ringgit. RM69.90 per figure ... which comes to 30SGD. Man, if I was into collecting the transformers 6" figures, I would probably be down a few hundred dollars because they have all the types and I would have bought them all.

Maybe this ensues another visit later in the year since the retail sector here can't be relied on nowadays ... hmmmm.

Titaniums in the horizon

I've been meaning to post a few stuff like finally buying my Tantive IV and another review and some other stuffs but just couldn't find the time. However, this I must post. Rumours are abound for wave 5. The list includes;

  1. Darth Vader TIE Fighter (white deco)
  2. Kit Fisto's Jedi Starfighter
  3. Trade Federation Battleship
  4. Yoda AT-RT
  5. Rouge Shadow Fighter

A quick run through of the list; a white Vader Tie Fighter. If it's really a Tie Fighter, we have it already but if it's a typo for Tie Advance fighter then I would say it's plain lazy, or crap or daylight robbery by Hasbro on its fans.

Kit Fisto's Jedifighter; hmmmm ... I would say it's a repaint of other EP1 jedifighter but if it comes with the hyperspace ring then it is a must buy.

This is an old mould from the Galoob micromachine series and I have one already.

Yoda on an AT-RT? I have already a clonetrooper on an AT-RT, so my best guess would be, they did a mould of Yoda (could be pathetically small) and stuck it on top of the AT-RT. It can go either way this vehicle.

Lastly, a rouge shadow fighter. A fast search in Wiki produce no result. Though there is a shadow droid from the comics? Another thing, is it rouge or rogue?? So this mystery ship is either a DEEP-RED shadow fighter or; an UNKNOWN/ILLEGAL shadow fighter?

Guessing Game #2

Next up, I'm guessing vehicles from the new trilogy movies that might up in titanium form. These capital ships might be produced. They are from the separatist alliance. The miniatures series have them as such.

From left to right;
The banking clan frigate, the Commerce Guild Destroyer

Reasons why I think they might be produced;
1. As I said previously, if they are in the movie, they are a shoo-in to be casted in metal.
2. Revenge of the Sith is the pinnacle of the new trilogy. The opening space battle over Coruscant was jaw-dropping and it's still fresh. Well, now stale fresh in fan's memory.
3. It's the bad guys. The Invisible Hand has been produced ... why not the rest of its gang.

New Pics of V-wing

I'm getting excited now about this vehicle. A SSG forumite has published close-ups of the vehicle and it is SO FINE.

This goes up to the level of must haves, just like the Jedi starfighter with hyperspace ring which I'm still searching.

That's not a moon!!!

The official site has announced the cover of novel Death Star.

This hardcover is co-written by Steve Perry and Michael Reeves and is slated for release this September.

Hmmm ... even a space station gets it's own story. Well, with a jumbled history on its creation, from the designer Bevel Lemelisk or to Tarkin stealing the plans. The mixed backstory was eventually put to right with Episode 2 Attack of the Clones which showed the Geonosians being the initial architect of the Death Star.

Another Titanium Question

Sandtroopers: I really love the Titanium line, however the recent increase in repaints scares me into thinking that Hasbro "may" be running low on ship ideas. I would love to see the inclusion of more video game/comic/cartoon vehicles (i.e. TIE Hunter, Outrider, and more specifically the TX-130, AT-XT, and the much beloved Torrent Starfighter). I think these would be welcome additions and breathe much needed diversity to the line. Has Hasbro thought of including more non-film vehicles as opposed to repaints?

Hasbro: The problem with this model is that these ships are less iconic and (we think) will probably have less demand and appeal, and at the same time Titanium vehicles are expensive to develop and tool up. So while we would like to explore some of these options, the best balance for the line will be a continued focus on the most reognizable vehicles with a measured entry into some of the others like the ones you mention.

Ultras seen!!

I can't stand it!! JediDefender has just reported that one of its readers has spotted the 4 Ultra Exclusives, mainly of the Tie Fighter, Red 3 X-Wing, Clone Wars Gunship, and Anakin's ROTS Jedi Starfighter.

Got to start making the rounds at TRUs here just so that I won't be left out.

Not exactly Star Wars ...

Nothing much on the Titanium series this week escept for this blurb on Batlestar Galactica.

Rebelscum: Thanks for producing the amazing Battlestar Galactica Titanium starships. Just wondering if you would ever consider producing an Ultra Battlestar Pegasus, the Blackbird Stealth Ship, the Cylon Heavy Raider, a Cylon Basestar, classic Battlestar Galactica or Cylon Base Ship, or any of the ships seen in the fleet?

Hasbro: Two of those (Classic Galactica and Cylon Heavy Raider) are in development for 2008. The Ultra will not come out, unless it becomes part of a future exclusive, because demand for the Ultra line was much softer than anticipated. The other two are probably not likely to happen due to the complexity of production for our price point.

More Tech Demo

The game Force Unleashed is gearing up pretty well although it's release date has been pushed to early next year. But the physics behind the game is making my mouth water. I highlighted how the sprite reacts to the environment before.

Now a new tech demo has been released to show how materials in the game environment reacts to breakage. And it's so damn cool! Just watch ...

Review : Rebellion vol 1

Rebellion Vol 1 was a visual feast. Shadows and muscle-toned body were drawn with artistic aplomb. However, the images drawn were sometimes, crossing over into the restricted adult section of imagination … hehehehe. Or maybe it was just my wild imagination in seeing something which is not there … [big grin]. Don’t believe me … look at these and make up your own mind.

These aside, this collection is a good follow up of the last Empire series on Janek Sunber. Torn by the revelation that his best friends, Luke and Biggs, had joined the rebels and causing much discourse in the galaxy, Janek sought an audience with Vader and was mixed-up in an elaborate plan to destroy the rebels once and for all.

Meanwhile another mole in the form of Jorin Sol, the tech that was rescued in Empire 7, has his own plans laid out for him by agents of the empire that would cause massive destruction to the rebel fleet.

I rate this book 3.5 out of 5. And now I leave you with a picture of Princess Leia that we have never imagined or seen before since her slave girl costume in Return of the Jedi.

She must have stopped working out to become this??

Titanium Series Vehicles 2007, Wave 4

Entertainment Earth has announced Wave 4 of the 2007 series. Here it is;

  1. Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter
  2. B-Wing Starfighter (Orange)
  3. All-Terrain Attack Pod (AT-AP)
  4. A-Wing Starfighter (Green)
  5. Tantive IV (Episode III Blockade Runner)

The first 2 vehicles comes from Wave 3. Making the wave with having 1 new mould, which is the AT-AP since the last 2 are basic repaints.

What's an AT-AP? I have no idea. Had to go the official site to get a picture of this walker.

It looks bad, doesn't it? A tripod walker on long legs. That's why it went out of commission by the time EP 4 came in. Duhhh!!

The Droid You're Looking For

Maybe I have to change my collection to another series. Like the Lego series,perhaps. Why? well with news like this, I'm a ready convert already;

Fans of Star Wars LEGO sets may soon be the lucky owners of a limited edition metallic gold C-3PO minifigure starting this June, when 10,000 of the gold-clad droids will be randomly inserted into select 2007 LEGO Star Wars sets in the "These Are the Droids You're Looking For" promotion.

While the metallic gold figures will be pretty scarce and immediately sought-after by collectors (odds of snagging one in select Star Wars 2007 sets is about 250 to 1), the ultimate LEGO Star Wars prize will be a gold -- the solid, 14-carat kind -- C-3PO figurine to be won by five lucky individuals who enter in an online contest to be announced soon.

Now, he is really the Goldenrod by Han Solo's estimate ...

New Titaniums ... not SW though

Hasbro has announced more titanium 3" figures for their Marvel line. Of the 3, only the green behemoth looks good. But good enough to be collected? Nahhh! I'll pass.
